The Spectacular Sinai Sunset

The Spectacular Sinai Sunset

Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula has always been a hot zone. As the newest Egyptian government attempts to gain control over the country, the Sinai has fallen even further into lawlessness. On the occasions that I drove through the Sinai with friends, we were often escorted by police on the empty stretches of desert road. It was a nuisance having to wait for the police who were none too eager to play babysitter to tourists. However, friends of mine who travelled on the same road had their van sprayed with bullets as they waited at a checkpoint, bringing the prospect of danger closer to home. But, despite the anger, the violence and the lack of control, the sun still sets, and it happens to do so spectacularly.
